Region of Waterloo International Airport Airlines
There are three airlines (WestJet, Northwest
Airlines, and Bearskin Airlines) offering daily flights from the Region of
Waterloo International Airport.
Seasonal flights to
southern vacation spots (Mexico, and Dominican Republic)
are provided during the winter months by Skyservice Airlines
WestJet
WestJet
flies daily non stop flights to their hub in Calgary
Alberta. Connecting flights may be made to many
other WestJet destinations from Calgary.
The current
schedule has WestJet arriving in Waterloo around 5:30pm
local time, and departing for Calgary about 45 minutes later. All
flights are conducted in the most recently manufactured
models of
Boeing 737.

Northwest Airlines operates its "Airlink"
feeder airline
Mesaba Aviation Inc using the 34 seat turbo prop
Saab 340 aircraft with three arrivals and departures per
day to Detroit. This service has been available for three
years, and by most accounts is seeing a steady increase in
customers.
Mesaba Aviation
Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Northwest Airlines, the 5th largest Airline in the US.
The advertising is actually true. From Detroit you can fly
to pretty much anywhere in the world if you stay within the
Northwest Airlines network.

Between late
December and March
Skyservice
Airlines
operates the Airbus
A320 in conjunction with
Signature Vacations, Sunquest
Vacations, and Transat Holidays.
Destinations vary slightly from year to year based on
customer demand, but typically include airports in Mexico
and
Dominican Republic. The popularity of these
flights from The Region of Waterloo Intl. Airport result in
most flights being fully booked, and discounts from this
airport are harder to find than from Toronto. Flights will re-commence for the 2007-08 winter
months.

Founded in 1963, this Canadian airline has spent most of its
life serving northern Ontario and Manitoba airports.
The company maintains its Head Office in Sioux Lookout, and
employs more than 250 people. This
company was unsuccessful in maintaining a Toronto to Ottawa
route through the Buttonville Airport after concessions
ended from that airport.
The daily
service to Ottawa from the Kitchener Waterloo area is
provided with a 19 passenger Swearingen Metroliner. Speed is
comparable to a Dehavilland Dash 8, although cabin noise is somewhat
higher.
