Great Lakes Airlines

For a short period in the mid to late 1970s, Great Lakes Airlines made stops in Kitchener enroute to Toronto from London.

Passenger loads were very poor and often the pilot would radio ahead to see if there was anyone at all waiting in the terminal building.

Compounding the problem was the fact it took so little time to fly from London to Kitchener, the engine starter motors on the Convair 440 model didn't have enough time to cool down, and were burning up when asked to restart the engines in Kitchener.

Service did not last very long.
